CROWN PROSECUTION SERVICE(CPS) is the independent authority responsible for prosecuting criminal cases investigated by the police in England and Wales.
How we contribute to improving the Criminal Justice System in Lancashire
We play a pivotal role in the Criminal Justice System by:
- Advising the police on cases for possible prosecution;
- Reviewing cases submitted by the police;
- Determining the charges against defendants;
- Preparing cases and presenting cases at court;
- CPS Lancashire prosecuted over 60,000 criminal cases last year.
